PHOTOJOURNALISM

I have always had a fondness for photojournalism, the idea that a few photos can tell a story almost as effectively as a few thousand words has always baffled me. With a focus on in-depth investigative reporting and excellent print design, I haven’t had many chances to get out there and shoot as often as I would have liked to. However, when I do get that chance, I use my knowledge of subject, composition, and depth to capture moments that tell a story. I would characterize my photography style as feature-focused, as often my best photos capture subjects in moments where they are just truly themselves in their environments. I really enjoy photographing actors, as I am one myself, I find it easier to really capture those moments where they show the most emotion.

Though my photojournalism portfolio isn’t the most developed, I feel confident knowing that my photojournalism skills have developed over the years and I feel proud of the few portraits and environmental shots I have captured for print, or photo galleries. I have done my best to seize various opportunities, whether it be for social media, for a feature story, or just in general to get a camera in my hands and get shooting. One thing I have learned about photography is the best photos are taken when the subject is just in their environment doing what they love, those kinds of photos tell a true story. I have also learned about editing in photoshop, and working with composition to create the best portraits.
